I know that there is only so much you can learn from Wikipedia and travel guides when you are trying to find out about a country.
Perhaps it would be better to learn and hear about what life is really like from somebody who is actually living or has lived in Egypt.
So, aside from writing about what it’s like growing up and being of mixed ethnicity I also write about what to expect in Egypt.
Consider this an insiders guide on living here.
If I haven’t covered discussed something that is on your mind then e-mail me and I’ll do by best to help you out.

What people don’t tell you about Egypt, that maps don’t necessarily work around Cairo, one of many reasons why we all are still not able to fully integrate GPS mapping, if you’re targeting a popular touristic spot, you have better chances of finding out where it’s actually located and making it there in due time.
Another great thing they don’t tell you before arriving here, that make sure to ask for directions repeatedly until you stumble upon a person with knowledge to your whereabouts and destination of choice.
I have found a very simply way of detecting if the person, you happened to ask for directions on the street, has even a clue to where you want to go, if you ask them about a street name or a building no. for an example, and they repeat the same after you and start to look away in a helpless attempt to guide you, warning, if you follow those directions without confirmation and not reach your required destination, you are to be blamed for the miscommunication, then by all means lookout for someone else down the road to confirm it, cause in most cases they had no clue where it was to begin with, again beware, its not by their own fault, Cairo is a pretty big city and people come from all over the place, by nature we are very hospitable people and don’t like to turn down anyone, so advice, please be patient and give it a few more shots until you are safe at your destination.
A helpful tip is to know a close by landmark next to where you going, it helps narrow down your possibilities of getting lost.

Hi
Wonderful blog, full of insight and great reviews. I wonder if you would be interested in writing an article/s for a new lifestyle magazine for Cairo? Published contributions are paid. Please email me for a contributors brief if you are interested. Many thanks. Sam
